Luminine (VRChat: Aquatic Base)
The Luminine originally lived in the mid-depths of the ocean, untouched by the sun. While they were highly capable of adapting to most circumstances, the Luminine hardly strayed from their caves and were weary of exploration.
Once their population became too dense, smaller groups divided off to find new homes for their rapidly growing numbers.
Over time, the strayed group's appearances changed as they adapted to their new living environments.
Each time the population grew too large, these groups would divide and branch off to explore new habitats. Today, there are countless subspecies of Luminine, with varying appearances.

Full Luminine Species Guidelines (same as attached .txt)
The original Luminine (Luminine Canis) is a species with pointed snouts and nimble bodies made to zip through the ocean depths. Lurking in darker waters, the Luminine's vibrant scales were only ever seen by their prey as a flash of gold and violet moments before being eaten.

Lore:
The Luminine originally lived in the mid-depths of the ocean, untouched by the sun. While they were highly capable of adapting to most circumstances, the Luminine hardly strayed from their caves and were weary of exploration.
Once their population became too dense, smaller groups divided off to find new homes for their rapidly growing numbers.
Over time, the strayed group's appearances changed as they adapted to their new living environments.
Each time the population grew too large, these groups would divide and branch off to explore new habitats. Today, there are countless subspecies of Luminine, with varying appearances.
_____________________________
Overview:
The Luminine have highly adaptable behavior, and are able to physically adapt very easily to different aquatic/semi-aquatic environments. Thus, their physical appearances may vary greatly from one to another depending on their adaptations and mixes between subspecies.
While the species is able to (and tends to) live the entirety of their lives underwater, they have semiaquatic abilities to be able to survive on the surface comfortably.
Luminine may vary in hue, brightness, and coloration of their scales.
Mixes between the 3 Luminine subspecies can also lead to different combinations of features, including coloration, emission, head shape, etc.
The defining feature of a Luminine is their fins, which can also vary in size and shape.
Luminine pups, otherwise known as guppies, have much shorter limbs in comparison to their body. They also tend to be chubbier, and lose their baby-fat as they grow into adolescence. At this stage they are very quick but may be clumsy.
In combat, Luminine will hiss and attack with their jaws since they do not have very large claws.
While generally not too large, sizes of the Luminine can vary greatly.
_____________________________
Behavior:
Luminine primarily eat small fish, but may adapt to omnivore or herbivore capacities.
Luminine usually live in caves and holes, or occasionally shells or huts made from ribcages of massive creatures. Luminine do not share homes with others outside their kin, though frequently build their homes in "neighborhoods", in close proximity with others.
Luminine are not naturally aggressive and enjoy traveling and living in small packs. Although Luminine's lifestyles are entirely independent outside of their kin, they enjoy the presence of others. Luminine will rarely collaborate or interact with other Luminine despite nesting very closely together. However, if one is wounded or in combat, Luminine will not hesitate to aid eachother.

Subspecies Specifications:
Luminine Canis- The original Luminine branch. Hue of scales tend to range between pink to indigo. Their sharp snouts easily cut through water and assist in chasing prey. Their glow ranges from colors between pale-yellow (almost white) to orange, and even red. Luminine Canis live in the middepths of the ocean.
Luminine Betta- Live in shallower waters. Hue of scales range across all colors, with markings that may reflect those of tropical fish. Their eyes are typically black, brown, or grey, with very faint emission. Their shorter snouts are less efficient for hunting and tracking, but make it easier to navigate through tighter spaces, such as reefs or small holes where they may live. Pure Luminine Betta do not have bulbs, and live in sun-lit waters. Luminine Betta feed primarily on small fish, crustaceans, mollusks, insects, and even jellyfish.
Luminine Hound- Live at the ocean floor. Hue of scales tend to range between indigo to very deep greens. Oftentimes their markings will be near-invisible due to their dark coloration. Their eyes are dimmer than Luminine Canis, but have very powerful night-vision. Their glow ranges from colors between cyan to lime green. Their broad snouts are much more suitable for higher pressure waters, and they prey on any smaller fish they may find. They have much slower metabolisms and can survive for up to 30 days without eating.
